As a hair and make-up artist I am often asked why brides-to-be need my services. The most obvious answer is because we make you look and feel fabulous. But there’s more to it than that. I say look at it like this, a make-up artist is like a personal consultant - someone skilled in the ability to judge exactly what is needed to enhance and bring out the best in your natural features and of course to put the finishing touches to your overall look. Remember, your make-up needs to last, and needs to hold up day and night and for the all important photographs. A make-up artist is skilled in applying make-up that will do just this, and look seamless under the flash of a camera. Make-up, when applied properly, need never look obvious or heavy - that is the skill of your make-up artist, to make you look beautiful, with as little or as much make-up as you feel comfortable with.
I’d like to point out some of the most common reasons for not employing a make-up artist firstly, people think, because they don’t usually wear make-up, they don’t need it on their wedding day or at least don’t feel confident enough to wear it on their day. Reasons being that they will look made-up or just feel uncomfortable. In fact, it is for these people that a make-up artist is so important.
